Sorbitol is a chemically higher alcohol, similar to glycerine, with excellent skin compatibility. In nature, sorbitol is a component of many fruits. It is mainly obtained from glucose. In cosmetics, its water-retaining, emollient properties are used in moisturising, softening skin creams.
